"i know how it feels to lose during the band competition. it hurts till this day. and i dont want anyone in TK Band to ever experience that feeling. ever."
"you know how many people are looking forward to seeing us lose? they are really so eager to see us fall. its basic human nature to hate the champions."
i will never forget these words which mr muzamil said.
never.
when he said it, he actually had tears in his eyes.
i could only imagine the feeling he had when they lost the competition years back.
it was bad.
really bad.
and it set me thinking.
it made perfect sense.
yes, it is basic human nature to hate perpetual winners.
because humans are competitive by nature and by instinct. its in our blood.
wei rong once commented why bother working so hard just for one competition?
people push themselves so hard till they faint on the field.
people push themselves over their limits till they collapse.
people push themselves so hard till they actually vomit on the field.
i know. because i've been through it once.
everybody has been.
why kill yourself over a silly gaudy gold cup?
i used to ask myself the same question whenever i see people faint.
but now, i know the answer.
its because we dont want to ruin the band's reputation.
the gold cup comes with respect from other bands and another reason to be proud of who we are.
we dont want to let our seniors who have worked so hard down.
if our seniors can do it, we can do it too.
we all have a common sense of pride when it comes to TK Band.
we dont want to let anybody down.
the people who placed such high hopes on us.
we also dont want to give other rival bands the pleasure of beating us.
we have had enough of tasting bitter defeat.
we want to set a new trend. to be the champions always.
yes, the training is tough.
the pressure is intense.
but if our seniors can and have done it, we can and will do it.
that certainly answered my question and has pushed me to endure and do my best on the field.
how about you?
"i have already won. have you?" - azlan.
i want to win. even if it kills me in the end.
post note: i'm not going to post about whatever stuff i did during band camp because it is pointless and not important. like what the band leaders said before band camp, "we are not here at band camp to have fun. we are here to train to win." precisely. i have never intended to be there to have fun anyway. thats why i shall not post about what i did.
